Selling brushes and fonts taught me more about SaaS pricing than any course

#1

Inkpot: 2,200 euros, brushes and fonts for illustrators. Digital goods, no servers, no churn in the SaaS sense. But the pricing lessons transferred directly when I helped a friend price her SaaS:

Tiers based on use, not on features. My brush packs split by commercial vs extended license, not by brush count. SaaS should split by the customer's success metric, not by toggle count.

The bundle beats the discount. Bundles raise average order without training customers to wait for sales. Discounts train waiting. I never discount, I bundle seasonally.

Refunds are marketing. 30-day no-questions refunds, 2% take rate, and refunded customers recommend me anyway. Generosity converts.

#2

Designer pricing solidarity. The bundle-beats-discount line is exactly what I tell SaaS clients about their annual plans.

#3

Banker-learning-to-build view: the refund-take-rate math is what convinced me. 2% cost for the trust of 100%. SaaS trials are the same shape: the cost of the abusers is tiny versus the conversion of the nervous.
