The zero to one dollar thread

#1

Post here the day a stranger pays you for the first time. Not a friend, not your mother. A stranger.

No amount is too small. My first was a $29 cheque in 1998 and I photocopied it before I cashed it.

I'll go back and read this thread whenever the forum gets too clever for its own good.

$12. someone in finland. i checked the stripe dashboard nine times to make sure it wasn't me

#3

39 euros from a trattoria in Parma I have never visited. I went to visit. The food was better than my software.

#4

£49 a month, first Staywise customer, a subscription box company in Leeds. They churned four months later, which, given what I sell, was educational.

$4.99!!!! A STRANGER IN BRAZIL PAID FOR MY APP!!! I screamed and my flatmate thought something was wrong!!

#7

1,500 naira, about a dollar at the time. A woman who sells fabric in Balogun market. She called me to say thank you, which is how I found out my support number was my personal phone.

#8

Posting a year late. 890 CZK from a clinic in Brno. The owner paid by bank transfer and wrote "for the calendar thing" as the reference.

#9

Second time round. $9 for Quietdesk from someone at a two-person bike shop. It felt exactly the same as the first time, which I did not expect after selling a company.

#10

₦2,000 for a set of lecture notes. From a student at a different university, so nobody I know. I have read this thread four times waiting for my turn.

$19. A two-person candle company in Vermont. They sent a support ticket five minutes later, I answered it in ninety seconds, and they said nobody had ever replied that fast. That is the whole pitch, I think.

$3.99, yesterday, 2:14 in the morning, from another parent who was presumably also awake. I have been building in nap windows for five months. I cried a bit. The baby was unimpressed.
