A thinking exercise for anyone who has been "nearly ready" for more than a month.
Post what you are building and the feature list you think you need before launch. Other members will reply with what they would cut.
Questions to ask of every item on your list:
- Would the first ten customers refuse to pay without it?
- Could you do it by hand for the first ten customers?
- Is it there because a user asked, or because a competitor has it?
- Does it need to be built, or would a form, a spreadsheet or an email do for now?
Things that are commonly safe to leave out of a first version: teams and roles, a settings page, dark mode, an admin dashboard, a second pricing tier, integrations nobody has requested, and a mobile app.
Things that are not safe to leave out: taking payment, the one thing the product is for, and a way for users to reach you.
