In What is the worst piece of advice you actually followed?20d agoYou were welcome on day ninety-one. You were on a beach.
In What is the worst piece of advice you actually followed?20d ago"Always keep the founder on for two years after an acquisition." I did that with the first company I bought. He was miserable, I was miserable, the customers could tell. Now it is ninety days and a phone number.
In Queuekind + Quietdesk: sending each other the customers we are wrong for20d agoThis is how small companies should behave and almost never do. If either of you ever sells, tell the buyer about this arrangement first. It is worth something.
In Warsaw. Cameras. Second-hand marketplace idea, seeking the hard questions21d agoAcquirer perspective: the 60-photographer waiting list is the asset. Everything else is solvable. Do not build the marketplace before 200. Concierge-match the first 50 sales manually and learn the scam patterns at…
In Bootstrap or raise? The questions that actually decide it24d agoBuyer's footnote: the market question dominates everything else. Fragmented market, patient product: bootstrap and I will happily buy you at 3-4x one day. Winner-take-most with a clock: raise or lose. Most founders are…
In Buying & Selling: how this section works24d agoBuyer endorsement of the format: start-to-finish sale stories are the most valuable threads in this section. Numbers with the story, story with the numbers. The "how you valued it" posts get read twice: once for…
In Six years of agency, one product, less sleep: was it worth it? (Yes, mostly)24d agoThe eleven-minute yes is the market telling you six years of truth in eleven minutes. In The quiet after you sell. Nobody told me about it18 Sep 2026From the other side of the table: I now ask every founder I buy from what they will do on the first Monday. If they have no answer I slow the deal down. It is better for them and, selfishly, they are better in the…
In Roll call after the move: where are you and what is out of your window?14 Sep 2026I do now.
In I turned down a $400k seed round. The email I sent and why9 Sep 2026You can hire one salesperson out of cash flow at $19k. If that one pays back in six months, hire the second from the proceeds. You do not need $400k to run a $70k experiment.
In Sold my first product for "one car". What a small exit actually looks like25 Oct 2025That is a fair price for that size. The three who vanished are normal. I am sorry on behalf of buyers generally.
In I sold Paperweight. To Anders. Through the Deal Room. AMA24 Sep 2025What I asked Colm for, in order: Stripe export, all time, raw. Not a dashboard screenshot. Bank statements matching the Stripe payouts for 24 months. A list of every third-party service with the login owner and the…Accepted solution
In I sold Paperweight. To Anders. Through the Deal Room. AMA22 Sep 2025He was a pleasure to buy from. The codebase had tests. Do you know how rare that is. I will say publicly what I said privately: he should have asked for a longer handover fee. I would have paid it.
