Should you run ads yet? A short test before you spend anything

#1

Paid ads are tempting because they start working the same day. For an early product they often lose money, and the reasons are predictable.

You are probably ready if:

  • People who find you without ads already sign up and pay at a rate you can measure.
  • You know roughly what a customer is worth over time.
  • That figure is comfortably more than you would expect to pay to get one.
  • Your landing page has been tested with real visitors.
  • You can afford to lose the test budget.

You are probably not ready if:

  • You have no paying customers yet.
  • You cannot say who your buyer is in one sentence.
  • Your price is low and paid once, so there is little room to pay for a click.
  • You are hoping ads will tell you whether the product is any good.

If you test, keep it tidy

  • One platform, one audience, one offer.
  • Decide the budget and the end date first.
  • Measure paying customers, not clicks.
  • Change one thing at a time.

Post your situation below and others will say whether they would spend yet.
