Lisbon, 23 of us, one lost passport: the meetup write-up

#1

We said "maybe ten people will come". Twenty-three did, from fourteen countries. Thank you @ines_m for finding a restaurant that could seat us and then forgiving us for staying until they stacked the chairs.

What happened, for those who could not make it:

Friday. Drinks. @jorge_m walked into the wrong bar, sat down at our table anyway, and joined the forum that night. He is not even a founder. He is now.

Saturday. Wren talked for forty minutes about churn with no slides, only the spreadsheet. People took photographs of a spreadsheet. Walt did "two things" and it was nine things.

Saturday night. Dario lost his passport. Dario found his passport. It was in the hood of his own jacket.

Sunday. Pastel de nata count: Priya 7, Tom 6, everyone else a sensible number.

We are doing it again next year. Suggestions for the city go below.

In my defence the hood is a very safe place to keep a passport, which is why nobody found it for three hours.

BEST WEEKEND. I met so many of you and you are all exactly like your posts!! Also it was 8 not 7, somebody did not count the one at the airport!

#5

Nobody has collected Dario's umbrella. It lives with me now. It has a name.

#6

I came as a lurker who had never posted and I left with a co-founder. So. Worth the flight.

#7

For everyone who asked: the spreadsheet is in the Playbooks section. Please stop sending me photographs of my own spreadsheet.

#8

Vote for Stockholm. I will not organise it but I will attend.

Cost per attendee, for anyone planning a trip next year: mine was 1,140 CAD all in. I got two customers and one accountant out of it, so it paid back in about six weeks. I did not expect to be able to write that sentence.
