App store rejections: what were you rejected for, and what fixed it?

#1

Rejections are frustrating partly because the notice is short and the wait is long. A shared record of real cases saves everyone time.

Reply with:

  • Which store
  • What the app does
  • The reason given, as closely as you can quote it
  • What you changed
  • How long it took to get approved after that

Reasons that come up often:

  • The app is mostly a website in a wrapper, with little that is native.
  • Digital goods are sold without the store's own purchase system.
  • A login is required, and the reviewer was not given a test account.
  • Account creation exists, but account deletion does not.
  • Permissions are requested without a clear explanation.
  • The listing, screenshots or description do not match the app.
  • Placeholder content or broken links.
  • Privacy details are missing or do not match what the app collects.
