Growth sections get a moderator (me) + new rules for self-promo

#1

Utrecht, moderator hat. I now run the growth sections (marketing through retention). New self-promo rules, effective immediately:

Allowed: results with numbers, teardowns with permission, playbooks with templates. The holy trinity of useful promotion. Not allowed: link drops without context, "we just launched" without numbers, tool lists without opinions. The unholy trinity of noise. Enforcement: gentle first (edit + note), firm second (lock + note), rare third (you know the third, it has never happened, let us keep it so).

Why: growth sections attract drive-bys. The rules keep the signal. Post your numbers, bring your templates, argue with Gus. All welcome.

Official permission to argue noted and pre-accepted. The holy trinity is fair. My cold-email data posts qualify (numbers attached, opinions included). The noise rules protect the signal I feed on. Approved by the local contrarian.

Approved by the contrarian, the rules are legitimate. Note the exception Gus did not ask for: contrarianism without numbers is noise too. Numbers, even for rebels. Especially for rebels.

The gentle-first enforcement is why this forum works!! Edited + noted teaches, locks punish, thirds never happen!! Moderation with a smile and a spreadsheet!! (Pieter has a spreadsheet for warnings. I have seen it. It is beautiful.)

Newsletter-operator approval: results-with-numbers as the price of promotion is perfect. My launches post numbers or not at all. The trinity keeps the growth sections readable. Long live the trinity.
