Raised price from $19 to $29 for new customers. One week of data

#1

Small sample, sharing anyway because I could not find a thread with real figures for a product my size.

  • Before: $19/mo, 38 trial starts a week, 13% trial to paid
  • After: $29/mo, 36 trial starts, 12% trial to paid

So roughly the same number of customers and 50% more per customer. Existing customers kept the old price.

What I do not know: whether the people paying $29 will churn faster.

Thank you for posting the denominator. One week at 36 trials is about 4 conversions, so the 13% versus 12% difference is noise. The useful reading is "no visible drop", which is still good news.

Run it four more weeks before you believe it.

On churn: tag the $29 cohort now so you can separate it later. People forget, and in month three it is impossible to reconstruct.

I did 49 to 79 last year on Haulpoint and lost nobody. Then 79 to 99 and lost a fifth of new signups. There is a cliff. You find it by walking toward it.

Did you tell existing customers they are on a legacy price? Do. "You are on our original price and you will keep it" is the cheapest retention email you will ever send.
