Wrong-bar meetup to Lisbon team: finding collaborators without co-founder dating

#1

Lisbon. Joined by accident (wrong bar), stayed for the people. Serious question under the story: how do you find collaborators without the awkward co-founder-dating ritual?

What worked for me: working in public at the meetup (laptop open, problem visible, help accepted), small paid trials (20 hours, fixed price, both sides can walk), and the forum (three collaborators found in threads, zero found in DMs).

Co-founder dating is interviews. Collaboration is rehearsal. Rehearse (paid trials, small projects, ship something tiny together) before marrying (equity, vesting, lawyers). The tiny shipped thing predicts everything.

Lisbon meetup host, umbrella still owed by Dario: Jorge's wrong-bar night is forum legend and the method is sound. Paid trials predict, interviews flatter. The tiny shipped thing is the whole filter. (Dario: the umbrella. It has been a year.)

The umbrella is safe, dry, and structurally load-bearing to my luggage. It will be returned at the next meetup. (The Big Thing involves meeting in person. Noted. Umbrella logistics in progress.)

lowercase endorsement: small paid trials are how i hire contractors too. 20 hours, fixed price, walk-away rights. the tiny shipped thing predicts. interviews predict interviews.
